Cuitláhuac, among others

Natalia Carminati.

Acrylic on canvas. 62,5 x 124 cm. 2014.

Festivity-Slaughter is a metaphor for ceremony as a social symbol and the allegorical forms of colonialism, which create a new view on scenarios that show the fervour of festivity as a simulacrum of cultural slaughter. The project integrates painting and installation appropriating the bullfighting world to reflect on neocolonialism, cultural and social imposition and historical and current events from a simulated, iconic and political perspective. Barcelona 2014.
