“Thinking of a fire escape gives me mixed feelings. Fear of disaster, and at the same time, hope because it could be a safe way to escape. Therefore, I’ve tried to represent this ambiguity through easily recognizable elements. The pills refer to the evolution of medicine and its ability to improve the quality of life of human beings, or on the contrary, to worsen it in cases of abuse or incorrect use. The house alludes to the constructive element of society, the family. In its entirety, the piece uses these symbols to represent the constant search for peace, trying to keep the flames away from the main structure” – Mariya Alipieva.
