For Alejandra, Fire Escape represents strength, adventure, and new opportunities. Fire Escape is a project full of commitment, sacrifice and battle. That is what makes it so incredible to her. It is a brave project because it has been able to be born and reborn in different parts of the world, If someone can fight so much for something, I want to be there. As an artist, this project shows a symbol of opportunities. It was born in Barcelona and ten years after is in Melbourne. It is a break-up and surprise. Its professionality, with good treatment and respect.
Under these feelings, she created New Game. A fresh start in a foreign country, being Contemporary Art a not easy industry but at the same time so exciting. The painting represents two halves of a golf ball. Firstly, the golf ball was chosen because represents strength, how hard you have to hit a solid ball to break it! Secondly, because of the surprise, she believes it is surprising to get to break it because few people know what is inside of a golf ball and the different colours you can find in the filling. for Alejandra represents Australia in some way. Meaning, one of the things that surprised her most about Australia is that golf there was more normalized than in Spain, which is a game of people with greater purchasing power. Those little details between what is normal or not in each country are what fascinates her most about traveling and meeting people from other parts of the world because you always rethink the concept of “normal”. As art in all its aspects, she thinks it has that point of showing what is “normal” in the reality of each artist, and she considers that working with European artists in Australia has that point of clash of cultures that the artist finds so interesting.
That’s why she considered that that golf ball game represented all that was for her this new stage of Fire.
