Mariya Alipieva

Alipieva is a multidisciplinary artist from Bulgaria who works with sculpture, printmaking techniques and digital technologies. After completing a two-year course with a degree in Animation at Art College Sofia (Bulgaria) she moved to Mallorca to study a Higher Level Education Cycle in Artistic Ceramics at ESD Palma de Mallorca. She also holds a BA in Fine Arts and an MA in Artistic Production and Research, both from the University of Barcelona. Her projects tell stories about the intimate relationship between the individual and the environment. Alipieva’s artistic production investigates the elements around us and the way we mould to adapt to the canons imposed by contemporary society. In this way, she invites the public to reflect on the acts and rituals of the first-world lifestyle. Alipieva’s work has been featured in contemporary art exhibitions and fairs in Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, the USA and Korea. During her career, stand out awards and nominations such as being; Finalist in the Third Blanc de Chine International Ceramic Art Award (ongoing contest in China), a Selected project for a solo exhibition in Yingee Ceramic Museum in 2023 (New Taipei City, Taiwan), Grants for exhibition and artistic training (Menorca Island Council, 2021)and Honorable Mention (Korean Ceramic Biennale, 2021).
