The artwork delves into women’s rights and escapism from certain social traditions and cultures that suppress their freedom and the urge to break free from it. The idea of this video is a continuation of my practice in dealing with domestic violence against women. The video is one long shot of a girl wearing a burqa on an electrical scooter with her humming a melody with her voice inspired by Saudi women who finally get the right to drive on June 2018 for the first time in 30 years. The ’90s tv style brings the homemade feeling and the displacement of time and location of the woman on the scooter as she couldn’t have done this in the ’90s.
